Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Hemant Soren was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand on Thursday. With this, he became the Chief Minister for the fourth time.
Ranch: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) supremo Hemant Soren took oath as Jharkhand’s 14th chief minister in Ranchi on Thursday (November 28).
Soren led the INDIA alliance to victory in 56 seats of the 81-member Jharkhand assembly last week, retaining his government and defeating the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA for the second consecutive time in the state.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by a host of prominent political leaders, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Lok Sabha leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee.

Governor Santhosh Kumar Gangwar administered the oath of office to 49-year-old Soren at a kathyakrama held at Ranchi’s Morabadi Maidan. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, AICC President Mallikarjuna Kharge, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, AAP leader Arvind Kejrawal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann among many INDIA leaders witnessed the strike.
* Hemant Soren along with his wife Kalpana and two children received the blessings of his father Shibu Soren and mother Rupi Soren before the swearing in ceremony. After the swearing-in ceremony, he paid tribute to the effigy of tribal leader Birsa Munda and said, “His government will make sincere efforts for the development of the state. Cabinet expansion will be done soon,” he said.
