The Hon’ble Chief Minister, in a meeting held on 2:06.01.2024 with the office bearers of the state, had discussed the issue of cancellation of the NPS scheme with the cabinet colleagues in the next cabinet meeting and said that a decision would be taken.
But in the meantime, the Central Government has decided to implement the UPS Unified Pension Scheme instead of NPS, which is the nationally recognized NMOPS and our organization in the state has completely rejected this proposal, our demand is only to reintroduce the old pension scheme.
In the meantime, the state government has implemented OPS in some states and formed a committee to visit those states and get a report and review it. The Karnataka State Government NPS Employees Association has opposed this government action.
In the context of the above explanation, we once again appeal to you that as the current Home Minister of the state, you have successfully fulfilled the five promises made by your government with the desire to provide social justice to the aggrieved. This has led to public recognition. We, the government employees, have already given them the promise to work with them continuously. Currently, 2 lakh 65 thousand NPS employees and the same number of employees of the Corporation Board aided and private institutions are waiting for the announcement of the cancellation of NPS
With the cancellation of NPS, a grant of Rs. 4,00,34,86,084.00 crores will be available annually to implement the above five pro-people promises. Similarly, Rs. 24,264,33,14,800.00 crores stored in NSDL will be available for human development works. Therefore, just as the NPS scheme has been canceled in the affected areas of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh, as promised by NPS in Karnataka.
