300th ALH (Dhruv) Rolls-out from HAL Hangar

Bengaluru, September 29, 2020: In yet another major fillip to indigenous programme, 300th Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH-Dhruv) rolled out from HAL hangar here today.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Mr R Madhavan, CMD, HAL said ALH never looked back from the day when the prototype took its maiden flight on August 30, 1992 and has evolved into a world class helicopter with its unparalleled performance. “The evolution from ALH Mark-I to Mark-IV has been phenomenal and is a boost to the indigenous design and development of helicopters”, he added.
 
The Roll-out certificate of the 300th helicopter was handed over to Mr G. V. S. Bhaskar, Chief Executive Officer, Helicopter Complex by Mr Y K Sharma, Additional Director General (South Zone), Directorate General of Aeronautical Quality Assurance (DGAQA) at a programme held at HAL’s Helicopter Division.
 
Mr Bhaskar said ‘Rolling-out of 300th ALH is a testimony to the capabilities HAL has built over the years with concerted efforts of employees and customer support. “With more ALH getting inducted into the services our focus on customer support is ever increasing. With over 2,80,000 flying hours ALH has proven to be a multirole helicopter for Any Mission, Any Place, Any Time”, he said.
 
Currently, HAL is producing 73 ALHs contracted for Army (41), Indian Navy (16) and Indian Coast Guard (16). Out of this, 38 ALHs have already been produced and the remaining will be completed by 2022.
 
LCH Ground Run: On this occasion the ‘Ground Run’ of the first Limited Series Production (LSP) of Light Combat Helicopter-Limited Series Production (LCH-LSP) was carried out. This project has been taken up by the Company proactively while the order from Services on HAL is in process.  The LCH was piloted by Gp Capt (Retd) Hari Krishnan Nair S, Chief Test Pilot and Gp Capt (Retd) C G Narasimha Prasad, Senior Flight Test Engineer of Flight Operations, Rotary Wing.
 
Mr S Anbuvelan, Executive Director, Helicopter Division, Wg Cdr (Retd) Unni Pillai, Executive Director (Flight Operations-Rotary Wing), Mr V Sivasubramanian, General Manager, Helicopter Division and others were present on the occasion.

Bengaluru/New Delhi: September 27, 2020: Mr Ajay Khare who works at HAL as Deputy General Manager (Design) has been bestowed with the prestigious IETE (The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers) award for the year 2020 for his outstanding work in Full Life Cycle Development of Indigenous Mission and Safety Critical Avionics Systems, starting from conceptualization and design to certification and production. He received the award at the digital event held today on the occasion of the 63rd IETE Convention. The award consists of a citation, a medal and a plaque. Mr Khare delivered a lecture on the occasion.The annual award instituted by Dr R K Tyagi, former Chairman of HAL in memory of his late father Devi Singh Tyagi in 2016 is given to an eligible technocrat or a scientist or an engineer or an academician for outstanding contribution in the field of avionics and defence electronics that results in strategic and commercial advantage towards meeting the national objective of `Make in India’.”I am proud that Mr Khare has received the award this year. Over the years, HAL has been making concerted efforts in its R&D programs and is also facilitating indigenisation at a greater scale. We are seeing positive results”, says Mr. R Madhavan, CMD, HAL.Mr. Khare’s remarkable contribution has resulted in establishing two successful avionics product lines (Mission Computers & Solid State Flight Data Recorders) in HAL. The variants of indigenously designed and developed Mission Computers & Solid State Flight Data Recorders have been deployed in different aircraft platforms. Mr Khare works at Mission and Combat System (MCSRDC), HAL’s R&D Centre in Bengaluru.The awardee list includes Shri P Balasubramanian (2019, Scientist F, DRDO), Shri Amit Tiwari (2018, BEL), Dr Jayakumar M (2017, Scientist G, ISRO) and Ms T S Padma Priya (2016, HAL).
