BBMP CIVIL SERVANTS WANT PERMANENT STATUS

MG Srinivas BM Suresh Babu and Sudhakar were present during pressmeet in Bengaluru.

Bengaluru: “We are demanding that the direct salary civil servants who are working for cleanliness in Burhat Bangalore Mahanagara Corporation should be given “permanent status” and the permanent list should be released and the orders will not be implemented in some districts across the state. We are demanding the government and the corporation through their newspapers and media to implement the orders immediately.”

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Narayan, president of the state unit of the association, said, ‘The cabinet meeting has agreed to maintain the services of 24,500 civic workers in the state.  However, the government is following a policy of delay in releasing the final list of permanent staff,’ he alleged.

In Hubli-Dharwad, Belgaum, Kalaburagi Municipal Corporations, civic workers are still working on contract basis.  The contract system should be abolished immediately and their services should be made permanent.  He demanded that lorry and auto drivers, helpers, cleaners who dispose of garbage across the state should be freed from contract system and employed under direct wage payment.

As a result of several struggles on behalf of the above Mahasangha, the previous government and the current government cabinet agreed to make 24500 civil servants permanent across the state, but it is unfortunate that there is a delay in releasing the permanent list of direct paid civil servants in Bangalore Metropolitan Corporation, similarly in some other districts of the state (Hubli-Dharwad, Belgaum, Kalaburagi) Although the contract system was abolished in 2018, it is a remarkable thing that even today they are working like serfs under the contract system.

Therefore, we are urging the government and municipal corporations who are delaying the implementation of the following orders to implement them immediately.

1)As already announced in Brihat Bangalore Mahanagara Corporation, permanent list (first stage 3673 and second stage 11307 total 14980) should be released within this month.

2) In some districts of the state (Hubli-Dharwad, Belgaum, Kalaburagi) the lease system is still continuing, the lease system should be abolished immediately and made permanent.

3) Garbage lorry drivers, auto drivers, healers and cleaners across the state, including the Bangalore Municipal Corporation, should be freed from the contract system and employed on direct wages.

4) The sanitation workers working in the drainage board should be made permanent in the local bodies of the state.

5) Direct salary civil servants who have reached 60 years of age in the Greater Bangalore Municipal Corporation have been suspended from work and have not been released till now even though they have been ordered to pay retirement pay, the retirement pay should be released immediately. A post should be given to dependents of such retired and deceased family members.

6) Sanitation Junior Health Inspectors who are working under contract in Brihat Bangalore Mahanagara Corporation should be employed by the corporation itself on direct salary.

All these are orders and we are once again urging the government and the corporation to implement them immediately. “We request you to publish this in your newspapers and media and give your full support to this poor working class.MG Srinivas BM Suresh Babu and Sudhakar were present during pressmeet in Bengaluru.
