L J Ravi KASSIA thanks the govt and the Hon’ble Chief Minister for lifting the week-long lockdown keeping in view the sustainance of livlihoods and the economic activity underpinning them. This is essential though times are hard. We would like particularly to urge industry to ensure the health and safety of employees and everyone involved by following the covid related protocols strictly. The government’s decision to postpone the payment of variable DA by industries for the year 2020-21, in view of the difficulties faced by MSME due to the corona pandemic is welcome as it relieves some burden on industry. This will help industry retain employment at a time when cash flows have dried up. However, the relief is only temporary and also will increase the burden later due to adding up of arrears. We therefore urge the government to help industries through payroll support to a possible extent in order to help MSME maintain employment levels.
