KGF OWENERS WELFARE ASSOCIATION SPEAKS UP AGAINST ‘RULE’ OF CLOTH MAFIA

Bengaluru : While Karnataka is already reeling under cloth crisis, the KGF (KARNATAKA GARMENT FACTORY) OWENERS WELFARE ASSOCIATION and hundreds have protested at Town Hall in Bengaluru to State Government about the unfair practices of the Cloth Mafia operators, who are currently operating in the node.

KGF OWENERS WELFARE ASSOCIATION of these areas have complained to Government officials that, apart from supplying poor quality cloth at times, the cloth operators like Marwari’s and Seth’s are favouring select areas like Chik Pet to sell cloth, more than thousands like 1500 of 2000 cloth Mafia operators in this area. Cloth Mafia earned Rs 600 Crores , 3 Lakhs cloth merchants in Karnataka most of them were 95 per cent Marwari’s and Seth’s .

“The Cloth mafia is creating problems by concentrating on only a few sectors where they sell the cloth for a huge profit, wrong bill State government is not able to regulate this situation,’’ said local activist Mr. Putte Gowda, Fonder President of KGF .

The KGF OWENERS WELFARE ASSOCIATION is in Bengaluru, who had taken a protest morcha Yesterday to the Town Hall over cloth shortage, said that currently, their housing complex gets around 70,000 packs of supply from the other pipeline daily, although their daily requirement is close to 1,10,000 cloths .

“The cloth operators easily source cloth for their 12,000 packs capacity cloth for Rs 300 but sell the same to certain societies for as high as Rs 3,100 for the same volume. A cartel operating in this field does not allow other operators to enter Bengaluru,’’ added Mr Putte Gowda .

State regional superintendent told THE BANGALORE TIMES and NATIONAL NEWS ANALYSIS, “I have received and forwarded the residents’ complaint to the concerned department as I do not directly deal with the cloth issue.’’

The local in-charge of the cloth department, Mr Rajesh , said that the cloth supply from Bengaluru is not sufficient at present. “As far as cloth supply through Cloth packs is concerned, it is a private sector which State Government cannot govern.”
