Bengaluru: welcome the Naxal activists who have decided to abandon the path of violence and join the mainstream of society. Our government will sincerely try to fulfill their demands with compassion. Our government will also take necessary steps for the speedy disposal of the cases against them.
I have always respected the democratic struggle against injustice and exploitation. Our Constitution also allows for this. Our government had started the effort to convince the Naxals who were fighting with weapons in the forests and bring them back to the country during its first term as Chief Minister. During the last term, twelve Naxals surrendered and joined the mainstream. Now six Naxals have come.
The surrendered Naxals. I am confident that in the coming days, all of them will spend their lives as responsible citizens. I am confident that Karnataka will become a Naxal-free state after the surrender of these six Naxalites. I congratulate the members of the rehabilitation committee and other social workers who tried to bring the Naxalites into the mainstream.
Why not shocked? : BJP MLA Sunil Kumar, who was shocked when six Naxalites surrendered in the state, has to be asked why he was not shocked when Union Home Minister Amit Shah personally received and showered joy on 30 Naxalites who surrendered in Chhattisgarh last month. Does Sunil Kumar have the nerve to ask Shah why he has so much love for Naxalites?
Didn’t MLA Sunil Kumar know that the Deputy Chief Minister of the BJP government in Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, provided Rs 41 lakh in assistance to a Naxal couple who surrendered in Maharashtra last year? Does Sunil Kumar have the courage to ask on what criteria this assistance was given?
We all oppose the path of violence followed by these surrendered Naxalites. But none of them are corrupt who have swallowed people’s tax money, nor are they those who have cheated and filled their pockets by making idols of Rama and Parashurama.
We do not have the cunning politics of giving sticks, sticks, swords and tridents to innocent people and making them fall into the path of violence to gain political gains. It is the duty of a government to convince those who have lost their way and taken the path of violence, bring them into the mainstream of society and transform them into responsible citizens. Our government has been fulfilling this duty.
