PHARMACISTS GO ON PROTEST AGAINST THE AMMENDMENTS PROPOSED TO THE DRUGS AND COSMETICS ACT, 1945

Bangalore: Karnataka Yuva Pharmacist Association in association with Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Karnataka State Pharmacy Colleges Principal’s Association, Karnataka Pharmacy College Managements Association and Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India have organised a protest to the proposed amendments to Section 23 of Schedule K of The Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1945. This particular Amendments is in complete violation of Section 42, of the Pharmacy Act, 1948. The National Health Policy,2017 works for a healthy population and a healthy nation this amendments will promote the handling of drugs by untrained individuals which is a high risk to the human kind. There are total of more than 2lakh trained students graduating out every year and there are more than 5000 institutes training pharmacists. Instead of recommending to include ASHA workers in Schedule K section 23 it will be better to plan and utilize this trained resource in a structured manner.
With all these above objections we decided to protest in front of Townhall, Bangalore on 29th November 2019 from 9:00 am for the better rights and bigger roles for Pharmacists in health care. Pharmacists for healthy population and healthy nation.
