Chief minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday ordered revenue department officials to immediately withdraw notices issued to farmers concerning Waqf land claims

Bengaluru: Karnataka Legislative Council LoP Chalavadi Narayanaswamy reacted to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s orders of immediate withdrawal of waqf notice to farmers, saying that it is just an “eyewash” to win the local elections.

Waqf: Notice given to farmers immediately withdrawn: CM Khadak notice to officials.

Amendments in Pahani are cancelled: Important decision of the government

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has issued a stern instruction to the officials to immediately withdraw the notices given to the farmers regarding the Waqf.

The Chief Minister has given strict instructions to the officials not to cause any kind of trouble to the farmers.

Chief Minister today held a long meeting with senior officials of Revenue, Minority Welfare Department and Waqf Board.

Expressing his deep displeasure over the recent developments in the Waqf land issue, he was also concerned about the action taken by some officials in the matter of notice.

The Chief Minister, who was fully informed about the developments, said that the Waqf issue is being used for politics by JDS and BJP. Through this, those parties are jointly making an evil attempt to disturb the peace in the state.

The Chief Minister requested the people of the state not to accept such lousy attempts. He also requested not to listen to false propaganda.

Officials should also be aware of this. The CM directed that no decision should be taken which would cause trouble to the farmers.

Important decisions taken in the meeting:

The notices already issued regarding change of farmer’s transport should be withdrawn immediately.

Farmers should not disturb the lands in their possession

Any type of amendment made in the vehicle illegally and without giving notice should be canceled immediately.

Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H.K. Patil, Revenue Minister Krishna Byregowda, Principal Secretary Rajendra Kataria, Chief Minister’s Legal Adviser Ponnanna, Waqf Board CEO Jilani, Chief Minister’s Political Secretary Naseer Ahmed, Alpha Number Welfare Department Secretary Manoj Jain etc. were present in the meeting.

Speaking to NNA, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy said, “Now, you’ve given the order to withdraw the notices. But still, in the gazette, it is only Waqf’s property. So this is not a solution at all. I will immediately request CM Siddaramaiah to withdraw the 1974 gazette. Otherwise, it is just an eyewash to win the local elections. This will not bring any relief to the farmers.”

“The Chief Minister did the right thing and also said that no further notices will be issued and the notices that have been issued will be withdrawn because the BJP is trying to politicise the issue and certainly the Congress has no intention of issuing such notices or dividing the society on the basis of caste. It is only the attitude of the BJP to do so…”

Withdrawal notice

Earlier on Saturday, Siddaramaiah has issued a strict directive to officials to immediately retract all notices sent to farmers concerning waqf land issues, emphasizing that no disturbances should be caused to the farmers, said Chief Ministers Office in a statement.

The directive followed a high-level meeting involving senior officials from the Revenue Department, Minority Welfare Department, and the Waqf Board, added the statement from CMO.
