AVPN HOSTS FLAGSHIP INDIA SUMMIT; CALLS FOR MORE COLLABORATION BETWEEN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE INVESTORS

• Summit witnessed participation from key stakeholders in the public and private sector. Key attendees included B Hari Menon from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (IN), Deepali Khanna – Rockefeller Foundation and others

Bengaluru :  AVPN, Asia’s leading network for impact ecosystem-building, hosted its third annual India Summit in Bengaluru. Themed ‘Breaking Boundaries’, the goal of the convening is to drive capital across the continuum towards impact by providing a vibrant opportunity to deepen engagement across diverse ecosystem players.
Key initiatives announced:
• Report on ‘Reducing Ocean Plastics – Formative Research leading to Intervention Planning in India. The full report can be downloaded here –http://bit.ly/2ocuuo7
• Introduction of IPE Global-USAID-AVPN Health Platform. This platform aligns and connects key stakeholders to accelerate innovation and achievement of sustainable development goals linked to health and health outcomes (SDG 3, SDG 6) and towards socio-economic upliftment of women (SDG 5).

• Naina Subberwal Batra, CEO and Chairperson, AVPN said,“We believe it is essential to bring private sector capital with public policymakers to achieve the social outcomes we need for development in India. The National Education Policy (NEP) is a critical document to be ratified in the Parliament; it comes together with consultation from several stakeholders, who are also AVPN members. We are thrilled that the NEP stresses upon public-private sector collaboration to ensure impactful outcomes.”
She further added,“We kickstarted our policy outreach with the NITI Aayog at our 2018 Summit. I am excited to take this further at this year’s India Summit and do hope that we can together to achieve common development goals.”(retained Naina’s quote from yesterday)

• Deepali Khanna, Managing Director – Rockefeller Foundation said, “We want to serve the best interest for humanity. We are committed to save 6mn lives in India, in collaboration with our partners. In the work that we do, data and technology is critical. It will help empower the anganwadis in highlighting key health issues and providing the right care.”
Last year, the India Policy Forum was inaugurated in New Delhi and it leveraged NITI Aayog’s Aspirational Districts programme to convene the private investment community alongside local and national policymakers for impactful cross-sector collaboration.
