NEW DELHI: The polling to elect the next state Assembly of Karnataka will take place in a single phase on May 10, the Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said on Wednesday.
Election Commission has said that the date of Karnataka assembly election will be announced soon and the election will be concluded by May 10.
The term of the 15th Legislative Assembly will end on May 24. A new government should be formed by May 23. The Election Commission has said that the Code of Conduct will come into effect from today and the Election Commission has made all preparations to conduct the elections this time without any confusion.
There are a total of 5 crore 21 lakh voters in the state, 2 crore 62 lakh male voters, 2 crore 59 lakh female voters, 19 lakh voters in the age group of 18-19 years and 4,699 transgender voters. The Commission said that many special measures have been taken to encourage voters to come to the polling booths.
