NEW DELHI: PM Modi’s hate speeches have damaged the dignity of PM’s position: Manmohan Singh
Manmohan Singh, who is also a famous financial expert, who has given a public response after a long period, has attacked Prime Minister Modi.

At a rally in Rajasthan in April, Prime Minister Modi had alleged that if the Congress came to power, the country’s wealth would be distributed to “those who have more children”. Also, he asserted that Manmohan Singh had said that ‘Muslims have the first right over the country’s resources’. In this background, he has lashed out against Modi.

In a letter to the people of Punjab, where the Lok Sabha polls will be held on June 1, Manmohan Singh accused Prime Minister Modi of “indulging in the worst form of hate speech which has completely divided the people”.

In a letter to the people of Punjab, where the Lok Sabha polls will be held on June 1, Manmohan Singh accused Prime Minister Modi of “indulging in the worst form of hate speech that has completely divided the people”.
Backing Prime Minister Modi’s promise to double farmers’ income by 2022, Manmohan Singh alleged that farmers’ earnings have decreased in the last 10 years due to the Centre’s policies.
“The national average monthly income of a farmer is at least Rs 27 per day. But the average debt per farmer is Rs 27,000. The cost of farmers is due to hike in prices of essential commodities including fuel and fertilisers, GST on at least 35 farm-related implements and strange decisions in agricultural export and import policies. “This has completely destroyed the savings of our farming families and pushed them to the margins of society,” said the former prime minister.

“In the last 10 years, the nation’s economy has faced unimaginable turbulence. The demonetisation disaster, the flawed GST and mismanagement during the Covid-19 pandemic have made the situation miserable. As a result, 6-7 per cent GDP growth has become the norm today,” he said.
Manmohan Singh also criticized the Centre’s decision regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement during the 2020-21 farmers’ protests.
Around 750 farmers, mostly from Punjab, died waiting for months at the Delhi border. The Prime Minister further insulted our farmers by calling them agitators and parasites as if sticks and rubber bullets are not enough,” he said.

“Their only demand was to withdraw the three Agriculture Acts imposed on them without consulting them. In the last ten years, the BJP government has spared no opportunity to insult Punjab, Punjabis and Punjabiyat,” fumed Manmohan Singh, himself a Sikh.
