Bengaluru: His Excellency Oleg N. Avdeev, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Chennai, Republic of India, encouraged the students saying the youth were the future of a country while interacting with the students at an interactive meet titled ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ under the aegis of the International Relations of Kristu Jayanti College on January 29, 2020.

His Excellency Oleg N. Avdeev said that there was an increase of 30 percent of Indian students who visited Russia for higher studies in the year 2019. When queried about his opinion of the Education system in India, he replied that Indian Education System was good especially in cities and cited Kristu Jayanti College as an example of a meritorious institution offering excellent educational opportunities to students. He also added that the students in rural areas might not have geographical access to such facilities and added that this problem was similar to the educational systems in other countries too. Bengaluru being an IT hub and a leading center for space research and technology was uniquely positioned reminiscing that when he visited ISRO his experience was very similar to the Russian Space Technology”.

“I am really happy to see the young generation having their priorities right and added that it is better to find out what you want to do with your life as early as possible so that you can work toward it. They have actively seek to find their place in life and be bold in dreaming big things and doing things others have not done before said His Excellency Oleg N. Avdeev.

Excellency Oleg N. Avdeev said that “there are 766 Universities in Russia in 82 regions, were 2000 students from 108 countries come to study in Russian Universities. The Russian Universities provide a comfortable and progressive environment for the students.” We also help the foreign students to adapt to the Russian language and culture, he further added.
His Excellency Oleg N. Avdeev said that the students who are interested in Student Exchange Programs can register with the Russian Cultural Centre located in Chennai to avail of the scholarships that are on offer.

When asked about the need of learning Russian language to study in Russia, His Excellency Oleg Avdeev clarified that “learning Russian language is not a prerequisite to study in Russia as there are many courses that are offered in English. However he also added in a light hearted way that learning to speak Russian was inevitable once you move to Russia”.
